Press release from Kendall County Sheriff's Office: 01/27/2022 9:30 AM For Immediate Release For Immediate Release Kendall County Sheriff's Office Investigating Fatal Crash -UPDATED Kendall County Sheriff's Office Investigating Fatal Crash -UPDATED   Kendall County, IL (January 27, 2022, 9:30 AM) – UPDATED On January 26th, 2022 the Kendall County State's Attorney's Office, following a thorough investigation by Kendall County Sheriff's Office detectives, authorized charges against Saul Muro Jr, a 26-year-old man from the 0-99 block of Scarsdale Rd in Montgomery.  The charges stem from the fatal traffic crash that occurred on January 12, 2022, on Briarcliff Rd near Bereman Rd in the Boulder Hill neighborhood (previous news release attached below): Muro was contacted near the scene of the crash, several hours after the crash had occurred.  He was taken into custody shortly after 11:00 PM on January 12th, 2022 on unrelated charges.  Muro was transported to the Kendall County Jail and has been in the custody of the Sheriff's Office as a result of the unrelated charges since that time.  Muro was identified as a potential person of interest and an investigation into his potential involvement in this incident was conducted by Sheriff's Office detectives.  The facts and circumstances of this investigation were then presented to the Kendall County State's Attorney's Office and charges were authorized.     Muro has been charged with one count each of Failure to Report an Accident Involving Death (class 1 felony), Failure to Report an Accident Involving Personal Injury (class 2 felony), Reckless Homicide (class 2 felony), Leaving the Scene of an Accident Resulting in Death (class 4 felony), and Aggravated Fleeing and Eluding (class 4 felony).  His bond has been set at $250,000/10% and he remains in custody.  The Kendall County Sheriff's Office would again like to thank the Montgomery Police Department, Oswego Police Department, the Kendall County Criminal Intelligence Team, the Kendall County Major Crimes Task Force, the Illinois State Police, the Kane County Coroner's Office, the Oswego Fire Department, and the Kendall County State's Attorney's Office for their assistance and contributions to this investigation.  **The public is reminded that criminal defendants are presumed innocent until the government is able to prove its charges in court beyond a reasonable doubt.**     Kendall County, IL (January 13, 2022, 1:45 PM) The Kendall County Sheriff's Office is investigating a traffic crash that occurred at 8:32 PM on Wednesday, January 12, 2022, near the intersection of Briarcliff Rd and Bereman Rd in Oswego Township.  An officer from the Montgomery Police Department conducted a traffic stop on a gray Chevrolet Trailblazer on Route 30, near the intersection of Briarcliff Rd.  The vehicle stopped and as the officer approached the vehicle it fled from the stop.  The officer then returned to their squad car and began to check the area in an attempt to locate the vehicle.  While searching the area the officer located the vehicle which had struck a tree on Briarcliff Rd near Bereman Rd.  The officer approached the vehicle and discovered the driver had fled the scene, and an individual was located in the passenger seat suffering from serious injuries. Paramedics were summoned to the scene to treat the individual who was transported to Rush Copley Hospital.  The individual, identified as 26-year-old Jose A. Cardoza-Chavez of Montgomery, was pronounced deceased at the hospital.
