Here are the top five stories in Woonsocket today: There's a parking ban in effect today for Woonsocket. It starts at 11 p.m. and lasts until further notice. Crews are expecting to be out clearing the roads. (On Worldwide)The Woonsocket YMCA Whalers youth swim team is making news! On January 15, the team took on the Newport County YMCA Wahoo. Team records were shattered, as was the case by Woonsocket High senior Nathan Fowler. And seven-year-old Eloise Wensus had a fantastic showing with winning three events. Let's see how the team does against the Ocean Community YMCA Mystic Hammerheads on February 5. (Valley Breeze) The Bernon Mills redevelopment on Front Street is a go! On Tuesday, the Planning Board decided to give Brisa Development the green light to develop 60 residential units, office space, and a grocery store. A proposed recreational center was not approved. "The developer estimates the project will cost between $22 million and $25 million." They hope to get started in spring. (Valley Breeze) New Beginnings kitchen will take on the All Saints Food Pantry along with its distribution once the church closes on February 7. Located at 323 Rathbun Street, pantry clients should head to the Privilege Street side, while meal clients will be served on the George Street side. There's no word yet where the kitchen will relocate to in May. (New Beginnings Inc) The business of the day is Kay's Restaurant at 1013 Cass Avenue. The eatery was established in 1968.
