CONCORD, NH — The state of New Hampshire has made a request to extend the time Federal Emergency Management Agency paramedics stay in the state to assist in fighting coronavirus. Gov. Chris Sununu made the announcement on Thursday that the 30 paramedics at four facilities are being requested to stay until the middle of February. The paramedics are working at Southern New Hampshire Medical Center and St. Joseph's Hospital in Nashua, Elliot Hospital in Manchester, and Concord Hospital. "We continue to press for all available resources as we combat this winter surge," Sununu said. "The extension of these paramedics is a valuable part of our all-hands-on-deck effort and I would like to thank the federal government for being responsive to our calls." Sununu Heading To D.C. … But not to run for U.S. Senate. The governor is attending the National Governors Association meeting, a bipartisan group. On Friday, he will participate in a Politico event, which can be watched online here. On Sunday, he and other governors dine with President Joe Biden and First Lady Jill Biden. Sununu will be back in the state on Monday. Shaheen Visits New Wastewater Treatment Facility U.S. Sen. Jeanne Shaheen was in Exeter on Thursday touring the town's new wastewater treatment facility. On Wednesday, the town accepted an EPA award for its commitment to protecting human health and the environment. In 2022, New Hampshire will received more than $72.6 million in grants from the EPA for drinking water and wastewater treatment. "I appreciated meeting with local officials in Exeter today to hear about the wastewater challenges they're facing and discuss how the bipartisan infrastructure deal I helped negotiate will support communities across the Granite State," she said. "Let's be clear: curbing water pollution and ensuring every Granite Stater has clean water flowing from their taps should not be up for debate. I'm proud to have led bipartisan negotiations on water provisions to deliver historic funding to make serious progress on this front." U.S. Sen. Shaheen tours Exeter's wastewater treatment facility. On Saturday, April 2, racers and striders will be on the Concord Heights raising money for the Christmas charity program. To signup, visit this link. For 2022, the race will also be the first race of the Capital Area Race Series (CARS.) "The SEA 5K is a wonderful addition to the Concord Area Race Series," Joe Kasper, the CARS chairman, said. "It's a faster, flatter track so that participants can focus on having fun and getting out to support a good cause. In addition, there is much diversity in the runners, with our youngest participant being 6 years old and our oldest being in their late 70s. It is a great event, and we're thankful for everyone who helps organize it and who participates." Here is everything else going on in New Hampshire right now.
