JOLIET, IL — A man and a woman in their 40s are in the Will County Jail after Joliet police went to their residence in the 500 block of North Chicago Street as part of a stolen auto parts investigation.
David "Pee Wee" Walton, 47, was booked into custody on charges of theft of motor vehicle parts or accessories, unlawful use of a weapon by a felon and obstructing justice. Amber Wilkins, 41, who lives with Walton, is jailed on charges of theft of motor vehicle parts or accessories and possession of controlled substances.
Around 7:30 a.m. Thursday, Joliet police went to investigate a report of stolen catalytic converters from vehicles in the 500 block of North Chicago Street. Walton and Wilkins gave officers permission to search their property, Joliet police spokesman Dwayne English stated.
Inside, officers saw numerous catalytic converters and removal tools strewn throughout the residence, police reports indicate. The catalytic converters were the proceeds of vehicle part thefts, police indicated.
"Officers also located narcotics and a .22 caliber handgun in the residence," English announced.
This incident remains under investigation by the Tri-County Auto Theft Task Force, Joliet police noted.
