Here are the top five stories today in Beaverton: A Beaverton Municipal Court Judge received a promotion this week. Governor Kate Brown appointed Miranda Summer to the Washington County Circuit Court, effective Thursday, January 27. Brown praised Summer for her talent and compassion. (STL.News) A Washington County man has filed a lawsuit for wrongful arrest after he was held in jail for nearly two days with bail set at $1 million. In October, the U.S. Marshals Service Fugitive Task Force took Sotero Garcia Chavez into custody from his Beaverton workplace, alleging sexual abuse charges from the State of California. Records show Garcia Chavez was in Oregon at the time the crimes occurred. Get the rest of the story at KOIN.com. For over thirty years, teacher Amy Shapiro of Beaverton fought to change Oregon's state song because of racist language.
