ALAMEDA, CA — Alameda, Hayward and Union City Police officers wrote 109 citations in Alameda on Wednesday including for speeding, failure to adhere to posted signs, distracted driving, red light violations, and driving with suspended licenses.
It was part of a High-Intensity Traffic Team, or HITT, crackdown. According to the police department, officers rotated through Alameda's more than 700 streets.
In addition to the tickets, dozens more drivers were stopped and educated on lawful driving practices to improve safety.
"After their service, participating officers praised the positive interactions with community members," the police department reports. "A few residents stopped to express their gratitude, while others offered water and snacks as a token of appreciation."
