Here are the top 3 stories in Phoenix today: A Phoenix Diocese's bishop submits his retirement request to the Pope. Bishop Thomas J. Olmsted, 75 years-of-age, has sent a request to Pope Francis to retire at the age limit for bishop. Officials at the Diocese report that the Pope has not acted on the request yet and that the Pope can accept the resignation at his leisure. (12news.com KPNX)Phoenix Police Department and Phoenix Fire Department spend millions on overtime due to COVID related staffing issues. The overtime is reported to cost less than hiring new personnel. Training new personnel would require paying for training, benefits, and pensions. Protests have also been cited as raising overtime costs for the Phoenix Police Department. (Arizona's Family)A Phoenix woman narrowly avoids hitting a brick wall after someone cut her brake lines. More people have reportedly been targeted with cut brake lines but the Phoenix Police Department has said it does not appear to be a trend.
