Description
After years of playing in indie rock bands, I've been doing some improv stuff that has been really liberating and mind expanding (for me, probably not the world in general!).
Right now I play with a 4 piece of drums, bass, and sax, with me playing guitar/noise/tapes, but we can only play a few times a month. I'd like to play more.
There is jazz present, but I would hate to call it "free jazz" for fear of those who can actually play jazz giving me a wedgie.
I'd love to do some kind of tripped-out dub stuff, minimalist Suicide motorik, improv with an MPC/sampler/noise maker, RL Burnside ragas. I mean, I could do rock, too, of course, buuuuuuuuuuuut... it's been a while since I was in a rock band where it wasn't rehearsing the life out of things.
I have, perhaps, eclectic tastes:
Moon Duo, Marc Ribot, Nels Cline, Tom Waits, Bill Callahan, Sonny Sharrock, Rowland S. Howard, Turing Machine, Mogwai, Swervedriver, Latin Playboys, Tchad Blake, Mitchell Froom, Low, Rex, June of 44, Rodan, Jawbox, Fugazi, Cocteau Twins, Bauhaus/Tones On Tail/Love And Rockets, Rocco DeLuca, Daniel Lanois, Eno, Zorn, Bill Laswell, King Tubby, Dr Alimentado, Lee "Scratch" Perry (rip), tape loops, noise, Yo La Tengo, Will Oldham/Palace, those nuns with the drum machine, Throbbing Gristle, John Lee Hooker, RL Burnside
Probably looking for people over 40, but hey, I'm easy. Bonus points if you don't have a day job and want to play during the day. I have a nicely appointed studio in Gowanus with a decent recording rig always set up and ready to go at a few minute's notice.
Here's a bunch of the improv I have been doing lately:

There's tons of stuff on my bandcamp page, if you want to hear more.
