The University of Florida Summer Media Institute (SMI) is a workshop for high school students at the College of Journalism. The University of Florida Summer Media Institute is a five-night, six-day workshop in which high school students are immersed in journalism and communications. SMI ’22 will be held June 19 to 24 in Gainesville, FL. Take part in an assortment of electives and specializations, and learn from award-winning UF instructors and industry stalwarts. Seize the hands-on opportunity to spend time in state-of-the-art university facilities – and to begin preparing for careers in the rapidly changing media environment – at the home of one of the largest and most comprehensive journalism and communications programs in the nation. Students with a passion and talent for storytelling and communication are especially invited. Early bird registration is available until Feb. 25, 2022 and costs $850. Regular registration is due by April 29, 2022, and will cost $950. Finally, late registration is open until June 3, 2022 and will cost $1,150. The UF College of Journalism and Communications is considered one of the nation’s best. The strength of its programs, faculty, students and alumni throughout its history has earned the college ongoing recognition as one of the best programs of journalism and communications in the United States.
