When she sang the high note during the intro of James Brown’s The Payback, she wrote her name indelibly into the pages of Funk and Soul history. On this night, Martha will have you singing and dancing along with renditions of her own recordings along with those she performed with the Godfather of Soul, James Brown. With Martha High onstage, you will hear some of her favorite selections from the songbooks of Etta James, Aretha Franklin, and James Brown, to name a few. Buckle your seatbelts. You are Gonna Have a Funky Good Time! THE BACKGROUND: Martha High sang alongside the legendary James Brown for 32 years and was his longest-running female vocalist. During her years with Brown, he produced Martha's single 'Georgy Girl' and co-produced her self-titled debut record. Throughout her career. she's shared the stage with Little Richard, Jerry Lee Lewis, The Temptations, Aretha Franklin, B.B. King, Stevie Wonder, Prince, Michael Jackson and The Police to name a few. We are please to have this legend on our stage at Chayz Lounge. Our space is arranged to allow adequate dinstance between tables so seating is limited.
