DEDHAM, MA — One lucky cat is leaving his sad story in 2019 and starting the new year with a happy ending. Schooner the cat, who was found in December frozen to a shipping container in Dedham, has made a full recovery and was officially adopted. The Animal Rescue League of Boston announced Schooner was headed to his forever home on Wednesday. The two-year-old cat proved he's a fighter after weeks of recovering at the ARL Animal Care and Adoption Center in Dedham. Schooner was found frozen stuck to a shipping container outside of a TGFI Fridays in Dedham on Providence Highway. It's likely that Schooner's fur was wet and with bitter cold and real-feel temperatures well below freezing, once the cat came in contact with the container he was immediately stuck, according to the ARL. Officials aren't sure how long he was stuck. When he first arrived at the center, officials said Schooner was very thin, dehydrated and showing the typical bumps and bruises of living outdoors which included a fractured tooth. ARL officials were amazed he did not suffer from hypothermia.
