Description

Create one of a kind shopping bags or foldover pouches using recycled fabrics! Is there a dress you love the fabric, but it's not quite wearable anymore? A favorite blouse or T-shirt you just can't let go of (but perhaps should)? This is the perfect opportunity to up/recycle and reuse cherished fabrics! Students will be guided through selecting fabrics, cutting patterns, and assembling your custom and reusable shopping bag or pouch by Fashion Designer Amanda Perna. Quick Info: Students will need to bring several items of clothing or fabric materials that they would like to cut up for the project. This can include shirts, blouses, sheets, pillow cases, dresses, etc. Think of items with larger area to work with.Embellishments will be provided, and Amanda will guide students on stitching and attachment techniques.Students will be laying out the patterns and cutting their own fabric to create the bags. Students will be able to choose between a foldable shopping bag, or foldover pouch. *If time and material allows, you may be able to achieve both!Amanda will be sewing the main pattern pieces together quickly using a sewing machine on site. Deadline to register is February 11th at 6PM. About the artist: Amanda Perna is the CEO, Founder, and Creative Director of The House of Perna and Neon Bohemians, a two-time Project Runway designer, globally recognized Speaker and TV Personality, Author, Illustrator, passionate Momma and wife, and multi-dimensional, multi-media creator who is equal parts artist, entrepreneur, and empath. She has taught several workshops to share skills in sewing, jewelry making, and even business tips in Pinterest.
