TAMPA, FL — Save A Lot stores in Tampa have collectively donated more than 8,200 bags of much-needed groceries to Feeding Tampa Bay, an organization that fights to end hunger in the community. Throughout November, Save A Lot customers in Tampa – and across the country – showed support for their local communities by purchasing pre-assembled bags of food that were donated to local food charities, such as Feeding Tampa Bay, and numerous other food banks and pantries. Across the Tampa region, stores sold 8,253 bags – more than $41,000 worth of food – to support families in need. One Tampa store in the area had the highest donations across all Save A Lot stores nationwide, with valued customers purchasing and donating 4,128 bags at 2271 E. Bearss Ave. Save A Lot is making an additional financial contribution, gifting a total of $45,560 worth of food and financial contributions to Feeding Tampa Bay. The Bags for a Brighter Holiday program ran for the month of November, with families in the area visiting their local Save A Lot store to make a donation. "This year continued to be challenging for many, so we're honored to be able to support local Tampa families in need through our Bags for a Brighter Holiday food donations," said Michael Needler Jr., Fresh Encounter CEO and operator of the Tampa area Save A Lot locations. "Being able to support the Feeding Tampa Bay program means so much to our community and our team. Thank you to our valued customers for helping to make this holiday season a little bit brighter for those in need."
