SWAMPSCOTT, MA — A virtual public meeting to discuss and get feedback on plans for an expanded Swampscott town pier set for Thursday night has been postponed. Town officials did not give a reason for nixing the Harbor & Waterfront Committee meeting but said it would be rescheduled for a later date. In 2018, the Harbor and Waterfront Plan identified the town pier as a project that would "enhance recreational and economic opportunities along Fisherman's Beach." The Seaport Economic Council provided funding to work with a consultant to research, test and create a preliminary design for an expanded pier structure. Those designs were to be unveiled and discussed at the forum when McAllister Marine Engineering was expected to present its proposal with an opportunity for resident input. More on the history of the project and the Harborfront & Waterfrpmt Advisory Committee can be found here.
