DEDHAM, MA — The Dedham Police Department on Monday announced that a North Carolina man has been arrested in connection with the February attempted armed robbery of a Dedham Sunoco convenience store. Steven Martinez-Santana of Dallas, N.C., was arrested and charged with armed assault with the intent to rob and the unlawful carrying of a firearm, police announced. The arrest came six days after police arrested Franklin Dume of Roslindale who was charged with armed assault with the intent to rob. Both men were arrested on warrants issued by the Dedham District Court, police said in a news release. Martinez-Santana had the weapons charge added after police allege that he shot the convenience store clerk in the leg during the attempted robbery, which took place on Feb. 13 at the Sunoco station at 19 Ames St. Police say the attempted robbery took place just before 11 p.m. when two men wearing masks entered the convenience store and one of the suspects pointed a gun at the clerk and then shot the clerk in the leg. Both men fled the store after the clerk was shot, police said. Dedham police have been working with the FBI since the incident along with the Massachusetts State Police, which led to the arrests of the two men.
