LOUDOUN COUNTY, VA — A gun was stolen from a home in Lovettsville on Wednesday afternoon, according to a report from the Loudoun County Sheriff's Office. Other incidents around the county included a wallet that was stolen from a gym locker in Sterling and a rash of thefts from cars.
On Wednesday, deputies with the Loudoun County Sheriff's Office were called to a home in the 12600 block of Downey Mill Road in Lovettsville. The resident told police that the home was entered and several items were missing, including a firearm and ammunition. There were no signs of forced entry, police said.
In Sterling, a theft was reported at a gym in the 21000 block of Dulles Town Circle. A man told police that his wallet was stolen after he left it unsecured in a locker. Credit cards from his wallet were later used at stores in the area.
In the most recent police report, the sheriff's office reported seven thefts from vehicles in Sterling. An additional six thefts from vehicles were reported in Ashburn. In each instance, there were no signs of forced entry, according to the sheriff's office.
In recent months, authorities around the region have been urging residents to lock their vehicles and avoid keeping anything valuable in a car. In the winter months, officials have also warned residents not to leave their car unlocked and unattended while it is warming up.
