ANNAPOLIS, MD — A fatal Annapolis shooting claimed a 21-year-old woman on Wednesday, police announced. Officers identified the victim as city resident Shakeo Williams. This was the first homicide of 2022, a police spokesperson said. "There is no circumstance where this can be tolerated," Mayor Gavin Buckley said in a press release. "We have worked with our local and federal partners to get guns off the street. People have the right to feel safe in their neighborhoods. This is a small town and these shootings are personal. This woman's life was cut short at 21. She had her whole life ahead of her. Please come forward to stop this kind of violence." Authorities heard about the shooting in the 1100 block of Madison Street around 9:10 p.m. First responders said they found the victim upon arrival. The shooting is still under investigation. Metro Crime Stoppers of Maryland offered a cash reward of up to $2,000 for tips that lead to an arrest or an indictment. The Annapolis Police Department asked anybody with information to call 410-260-3439. Tipsters can stay anonymous by dialing Metro Crime Stoppers at 1-866-7LOCKUP. Have a story idea?
