Press release from the City of Austin: January 25, 2022 Case: 22-200819 Date: Thursday, January 20, 2022 Location: 10300 Block of Beard Avenue On January 20, 2022, at about 4:00 p.m., Austin Police Department (APD) officers responded to a Check Welfare Urgent call at the 10300 block of Beard Avenue for a reported attempted kidnapping of an 11-year-old victim. Further investigation revealed the victim was walking home from a friend's house when a male suspect grabbed the victim from behind and forcefully attempted to pull the victim backwards. The victim was able to break free from the suspect and run away. It is unknown if the suspect fled in car or on foot at this time. The suspect is described as a Black male, 30-40 years of age, 5'5" to 5'8" tall, 230 lbs., and with black dreads. The Austin Police Department is asking for the community's help identifying the suspect, any residential video surveillance in the area, as well as assistance from any individuals who may have additional information about this incident.
