Here are the top two stories in Des Moines today: Des Moines police are investigating a shooting that occurred on Wednesday night after two victims were admitted to two separate hospitals. The unidentified victims were both 18 years old, male, and suffered non-life-threatening injuries. They admitted the shooting occurred near E. 27th Street and E. Grand Avenue where investigators recovered abandoned illegal narcotics and a handgun. (WHO 13)A shooting that occurred on January 9th is now officially Des Moines' first homicide of 2022. 24-year-old Trishay Thompson, who was found on Pennsylvania Ave with a gunshot wound, died Thursday morning from the incident. Currently, no arrests have been made for Thompson's death. (KCCI Des Moines)The city of Des Moines has responded to a lawsuit alleging widespread sexual harassment and gender discrimination within the Des Moines Police Department. The city has admitted there were some past instances of "inappropriate conduct" from its officers, but also said it is not legally culpable of sexual harassment and gender discrimination.
