Description
NEWPORT, RI — Out with the old, in with the new. The old, abandoned restrooms at Newport's Miantonomi Park were demolished this week.
The open-air facilities have long sat vacant and unused, city officials said. Earlier this week, crews started breaking down the stone and concrete buildings, so the area can be reverted to more green space.
The old restrooms were replaced in 2019, when new facilities were dropped in by crane.
The city called the project "the latest in a string of improvements made to the park by both the city and various community groups."
Miantonomi is Newport's largest public park.
