OSWEGO, IL — Oswego School District 308 officials are looking to engage with the community, and to do so, they created a new series called "Community Cafes." After an inaugural event in January, officials announced the second meeting will take place via Zoom from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Feb. 16. During the event, parents who attend will engage in one-on-one sessions, small breakout groups and whole group discussions. The program is open to parents and guardians, caregivers and interested community members. "The purpose of these Cafes is to create a place to gather and share stories, experiences, worries, fears, wisdom, and find community and strength together," reads a news release from the district. "By creating a safe space, we can begin to further open the lines of communication. The Community Cafes become places of affirmation where we can learn from one another and know that we are not alone." Community Cafes are led by Community Outreach Coordinator Michelle Earley. The topic for the second meeting is "Celebrating You," and attendees will discuss their strengths and how to support one other. To register, people interested can sign up online.
