WESTWOOD, MA — The Westwood Recreation Department abruptly closed on Thursday after a staff member started showing "COVID-19 like symptoms."
In a message to the community, Town Administrator Christopher Coleman said the temporary closure was "out of an abundance of caution." The department will be closed until further notice.
The temporary closure pertains to all recreation programs including the pool. The town will have the space used by the Recreation Department including the pool and administrative offices professionally cleaned and sanitized.
Coleman urged residents to continue following COVID-19 prevention guidelines and maintain social distance and mask-wearing.
