LOS ANGELES, CA — A Westlake school was placed on lockdown Wednesday afternoon after a teenager was stabbed on campus.
The stabbing occurred just after 1 p.m. at the Miguel Contreras Learning Complex at 322 Lucas Ave., and the campus remained on lockdown until 3:15 p.m. when police announced the arrest of a suspect.
A 17-year-old student was found suffering at least one stab wound at the scene and was taken to a hospital in stable condition, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department.
The suspect was described only as a male who fled the scene following the stabbing. His age was unknown and it was not immediately known if he was connected to the school in any way.
A perimeter was established in the surrounding area as police searched for the suspect. The LASPD announced just after 3:15 p.m. that the suspect had been found and taken into custody, though no further details were released.
