WESTWOOD, MA — A car full of Westwood teens crashed into a crash early Saturday morning, leaving one of the teens hospitalized in serious condition. The crash happened just after 12:30 a.m. on Pond Street near Martingale Lane in Westwood. Five teens were in the car but only four were wearing seatbelts, according to Westwood police. The car veered off of Pond Street, hitting a curb and flying into the air before it crashed into a utility pole, severing the pole in half. The car kept going off the road and eventually hit a tree. The four teens with seatbelts on received "only minor injuries considering the severity of the crash," police said. The one teen who did not have a seatbelt on, who was seated in the backseat, suffered serious injuries and is still hospitalized. Police said the teen is in "very serious condition." Police are investigating the cause of the crash and asked that "the privacy of the neighborhood and those involved be respected in the wake of this tragic accident." Patch will update this story.
