WESTWOOD, MA — Two Westwood teens who suffered serious injuries in a crash on Saturday are expected to recover.
The crash happened on Saturday morning when a car full of five teens from Westwood crashed into a tree on Pond Street near Martingale Lane. Four of the five teens were wearing seatbelts — the one teen who was not belted suffered serious injuries and was immediately hospitalized. A second teen was admitted with less visible but serious injuries.
In the wake of the crash as the teen was hospitalized, police offered a somber tone, asking the community to respect the privacy of those involved "in the wake of this tragic accident."
Westwood Police tweeted on Sunday that the teen was doing "doing much better and great considering," and that both teens are expected to recover and be okay.
"There will be long, but bright roads ahead," police said
The teen's injuries were not disclosed.
Just before the crash, the car veered off of Pond Street, hitting a curb and flying into the air before it crashed into a utility pole, severing the pole in half. The car kept going off the road and eventually hit a tree.
