Here are the top 3 stories in Anchorage today: A Navy pilot disappeared while piloting a plane during the Vietnam War all the way back in 1967. He was assumed to have been killed in action, and his body was never found. Now, 50 years later, Paul Charvet's remains have finally been identified. His family members and friends in Anchorage are now able to have peace of mind and put him to rest properly. (Anchorage Daily News)Two siblings who grew up in Anchorage are now confirmed to participate in the Olympics for skiing due to a spectacular performance at the U.S. Championships. Scott and Caitlin Patterson grew up skiing together, and now they compete at the highest level of the sport. Currently, they are both quarantining with their parents in Montana to avoid catching COVID before the Olympics start next month. (KTOO)After nine months of Middle East deployment, the final group of Alaska Army Guardsmen has finally returned home on Jan. 21. While deployed, they helped support the efforts of the U.S. Central Command Area of Operations. This meant directly supporting casualty evacuation, troop movement, and resupplies for U.S. and allied forces in various locations across the Middle East.
