The new year started in a very exciting way for James C. Metzger with a cover story that focuses on his past and current contributions to the football and lacrosse programs at Half Hollow Hills High School in Dix Hills. A three-sport athlete (lacrosse, football and basketball) during the mid-1970s, Metzger returned to his alma mater a number of years ago as an athletic and education benefactor. The January issue of the Long Island Press features several of the many athletic programs along with the dedicated people who are guiding the talented student-athletes — District Director of Interscholastic Athletics Debra Ferry, past president of the Half Hollow Hills School Board Eric Geringswald, current board member and Boys Varsity Lacrosse Head Coach Conor Hagens and Head Varsity Football Coach Alex Marcelin.
