**Operator: $40 - $50 per hour** **Pipe layer/Operator: $35 - $40 per hour** Thompson Excavating Inc. is a demolition, excavation and utility company located in Maple Valley. We pride ourselves in treating all of our employees as if they are our family. We have a lot of work, so we are looking for an experienced heavy equipment operator to join our team. The majority of our work is located in Seattle, but we also do work on the Eastside and throughout King & Snohomish counties as-needed. We are looking for an operator with at least two years’ experience with trenching and excavation, running Dozers, Back hoes, Track Hoes & other heavy equipment. You must also have experience running a job and keeping a 2-3 man crew busy and on task. The newest member of our team must possess the ability to complete projects efficiently and on time, be motivated & have a “can-do” attitude. Principal Duties and Responsibilities: Operate equipment such as loader/backhoe, trackhoe, mini excavator, and/or skid steer. Responsible for overseeing that the maintenance on construction equipment used is completed daily. Field experience with digging operations in city and urban areas around utilities. Experience with reading and understanding project plans, specifications, as well as knowledge of the materials, equipment and tools necessary to layout and complete the work. Delegate tasks to your crew in order to complete the jobs efficiently and on-time. Ability to demonstrate proper equipment & tool use, calculate slopes, percentages and elevations. Installs, repairs, maintains, sewer, water, storm system & dry utilities. Problem solving and strong analytical skills that can be applied in resolving situations in the field. Effectively communicate and maintain good working relationships with employees, contractors, inspectors and clients. Provide training and assistance to co-workers learning to be operators or pipe layers. Perform routine labor as required. Abide all company and manufacturer provided safety operational procedures and industry safety standards. Conduct weekly safety meetings with your crew on-site. Prepare accurate time reports, daily job sheets and other required paperwork.
