Description
Job Purpose:
Performs installation, maintenance, and repair of irrigation systems.
Characteristic Duties & Responsibilities:
Operates power equipment and hand tools to install, maintain and repair irrigation systems and related components including irrigation lines, sprinkler heads, control panels, valves, pumps, etc.
Checks system for proper operation and timing.
May participate in the design or modification of new or existing systems.
Performs season maintenance such as system charging and draining.
Maintains inventory of related parts and supplies.
May lead workers on irrigation projects and work on other grounds related assignments as needed.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Knowledge of tools, equipment, techniques, skills, materials, and methods of irrigation system design, installation and maintenance.
Ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions.
Ability to operate equipment such as trenching machines and digging tools and other related grounds/landscape equipment.
Ability to read and write English and possess good math skills.
Ability to work in a safe environment.
Experience:
Two years minimum of verifiable irrigation installation and maintenance experience.
Working conditions:
Spends most time outdoors, frequent exposure to extreme hot or cold temperatures for one hour plus. Possible exposure to distraction/uncomfortable noise levels and vibration of body or extremities. Risk of bodily injury from mechanical parts, etc. Possible exposure to fumes, odors, etc. that may affect respiration and skin.
Certifications/Licenses:
Valid Drivers license and ability to be insured. Backflow testing license preferred but not required. LCP license preferred but not required.
Physical requirements:
Sitting, standing, walking, climbing off and on equipment, squatting/kneeling, reaching, grasping, pushing/pulling, twisting/bending, lifting/carrying up to 50 lbs. multiple times per shift, talking, hearing, and seeing.
