The starting times for your shift are between the hours of 1:45pm to 3:00pm. Portland Public Schools is actively seeking a Custodian responsible for performing general custodial care of the building and grounds. Under the supervision of a Head Custodian, the Custodian sweeps, dusts, cleans walls, and mops the gymnasium, cafeteria, library, rest rooms, auditorium areas, halls, and classrooms. Ability to use good judgment and communicate successfully with the building principal, students, teachers, staff and the general public during and after school hours. Ability to learn and operate boilers, heating and ventilation and simple maintenance. Ability to operate minor mechanical equipment such as waxers, polishers, scrubbers, edgers, power lawn mowers, wet/dry vacuums etc. Demonstrated ability to exercise good judgment in general plant surveillance for building protection and occupant safety. Ability to be on call, after hours, for emergency assistance to the building if needed. On August 19th, 2021, Gov. Kate Brown announced that all Oregon K-12 educators, staff and volunteers will be required to be fully vaccinated by October 18th, 2021 or six weeks after full federal approval, whichever is later.
