Position Overview Title: Farm Landscape Steward Department: Land and Livestock team Type: Full time, Seasonal, Non-Exempt, Hourly Report: Land and Livestock Manager Location: Philo Ridge Farm in Charlotte, Vermont With guidance from the Land and Livestock team, the Farm Landscape Steward will be responsible for assisting with the general upkeep of the farm landscape. The Steward will execute multiple landscape tasks such as mowing, weed whipping, mulching, weeding, wood splitting, tree and garden watering, trail maintenance, general property clean-ups, and tractor work. The Steward will also work with the livestock team and assist with managing the daily activities around livestock production. On occasion, the Steward will help with hay production as well. This is a seasonal position that will begin in April 2022 and end in late fall 2022 depending on organizational needs and candidate availability. The Farm Landscape Steward role requires a time commitment of 40 hours per week, and occasionally more depending on seasonal needs. Responsibilities Mowing and weed whipping throughout the farm complex General landscaping work including mulching, weeding, raking, and maintaining garden beds Use of the skid steer and tractor bucket to move landscape material around the farm, brush mowing, and trail maintenance Splitting and stacking wood for the Farm Commons Barn usage Working on some larger landscape projects around the farm that involve working with contractors and other team members Other tasks as necessary to support livestock and land management business operations Qualifications Experience with a ride-on mower, weed whips, chainsaw and all landscaping power tools Skill driving a tractor and skid steer Consistent punctuality with ability to work weekdays, weekends, and early mornings Ability to meet physical requirements of continuous standing and occasionally carrying heavy loads as well as seasonal exposure to cold, heat and water Prior experience handling and maintaining various types of farm equipment preferred Prior experience in gardening a plus
