Description

Experience the craft of tin-type photography! Fort Worth photographer Sheena Dorton opens her studio to the Fort Worth Foto Fest and showcases the craft of creating photographs in the methods of the 1800's From capturing an image with era-specific cameras, complex lighting to the actual "wet plate" development, you will be a part of the entire process! Ruby worked on the set of Paramount's "1883" series and inspired the opening credits of the show. Tintype, also known as wet-plate collodion photography, is a timely and sensitive process that uses silver and collodion to capture a one-of-a-kind portrait that can't be physically duplicated. The best way to describe tintype would be an "1850s silver polaroid" on a metal plate. Each image is produced on the spot by hand – pouring the collodion onto the plate, exposing, developing, and fixing the image - with the final result being a beautiful archival photograph that is family heirloom-worthy. Take a step back in photographic history with a true master of the tin-type/wet plate process at the 2022 Fort Worth Foto Fest!
