Description

The 4-H Sewing Program was created to teach youth about the art and skills of creating useful items using needle and thread. Join us to learn about the upcoming 4-H Sewing program, which introduces youth (ages 9-18) to sewing and gives them an opportunity to make an article of clothing of their choice or a non-clothing item such as a backpack, laundry bag, etc. The program will run from March to May with one meeting each week. Sewing provides the opportunity for young people to experience a sense of accomplishment associated with completing a project. It also provides an opportunity for youth to understand textiles, construction techniques, design principles as well as develop eye/hand coordination. Research has found that youth who sew develop skills needed to become more creative thinkers. If you have any questions or concerns, do not hesitate to contact the Extension Office at (270) 465-4511.
