Description
The 4-H Sewing Program was created to teach youth about the art and skills of creating useful items using needle and thread.
Join us to learn about the upcoming 4-H Sewing program, which introduces youth (ages 9-18) to sewing and gives them an opportunity to make an article of clothing of their choice or a non-clothing item such as a backpack, laundry bag, etc.
The program will run from March to May with one meeting each week.
Sewing provides the opportunity for young people to experience a sense of accomplishment associated with completing a project. It also provides an opportunity for youth to understand textiles, construction techniques, design principles as well as develop eye/hand coordination. Research has found that youth who sew develop skills needed to become more creative thinkers.
