Description

Learn about real estate and community development opportunities with The 3rd Ward Real Estate Council. The Third Ward Real Estate Council, as part of its Do The Things That Matter campaign, is kicking off the lot activation for its Griffin Project with a day of fun and engagement to demonstrate tactical urbanism and incremental design. The campaign and event aim to build community among emerging developers, real estate professionals and community members interested in investing. Supporting community development through real estate is part of the Council’s mission to create equitable opportunities in real estate for everyone. Local development is the key to building sustainable communities. The Do The Things That Matter campaign builds community and a support system for emerging developers and residents looking for a way to get involved with community investment. Join us for a fun day of activity and engagement while learning about tactical urbanism and incremental development. Public Art Exhibit (11:30 am - 11:45 am) In communities that have been neglected for years, art brings life and spreads awareness that we still exist. Sponsor the missing middle mural to help us let everyone know what kind of houses and commercial buildings we want in our neighborhoods. Message us for details. Local artist, Suly Florian of Ace Phoenix will share our "Missing Middle" design to help us let everyone know what kind of houses and commercial buildings we want in our neighborhoods. Design Challenge (12 pm - 12:45 pm) Resultant Collaborative lead architect, Gregory Benjamin will share the framework for a design challenge that involves community input and developing a connection to the surrounding environment. Our goal is to gather input and ideas that will make Project Griffin the best use for our community and investors. Developer Roundtable (1 pm - 1:45 pm) You might think that gentrification is too overwhelming to make a difference. The truth is, if local developers and community members are empowered to learn, build and invest, there’s always a place for them in the future. Three industry leaders have a open discussion with local broker and urban planner, Jason Hyman about the nuances of developing in our communities. We'll be joined by local developers, Mel Young and Donovan Adesoro along with commercial real estate agent, Tiffany Ryland. Architecture Bike Tour (2 pm - 3 pm) There is history built into the streets, buildings and spaces that occupy our communities. The convergence of community with professionals that specialize in the built environment, from urban planners to real estate, results in creative options that benefit everyone. Local development is the key to creating sustainable communities. Lead planners, Arica Bailey and Carlos Espinoza lead a bike tour around 3rd Ward to talk about future development, design, and guidelines we should be aware of. Do The Things That Matter (DT3M) creates access to opportunities in real estate via education, capacity, and responsible development.
