The Literacy Connection is a non-profit, community-based 501(c)(3) organization helping individuals acquire fundamental literacy skills and learn to read, write, speak and understand English. Learners are provided tutoring services free of charge in the sixteen northwestern Chicago suburban communities we serve:

The Literacy Connection was organized in 1983 by staff from the Gail Borden Public Library. Since that time, hundreds of volunteers have provided thousands of learners with tens of thousands of hours of tutoring. The agency has won numerous national honors. We are a proud member of the Elgin Chamber of Commerce and the Northern Kane County Chamber of Commerce.
The mission of the Literacy Connection is to help adults in the northwest suburbs of Chicago reach their literacy goals through one-on-one volunteer tutoring and small group instruction.
