DUNEDIN, FL — The Dunedin City Commission has scheduled a workshop for Feb. 8 at Dunedin City Hall Commission Chambers to review the recommendations for fund appropriations for use of American Rescue Plan Act federal dollars for COVID-19 pandemic relief. The city of Dunedin will receive an estimated at $18.3 million in relief funds. In November, the city hosted three public input sessions to engage the community on best use of these recovery dollars targeting qualified categories or "buckets" that make up the spending framework including supporting the public health response to mitigate the spread of COVID-19; COVID-19 negative impacts on families, not-for-profits, and business/industries such as tourism, travel and hospitality; replacing lost public sector revenue; and investments in large-scale water, sewer and broadband infrastructure. The city also gathered community feedback from an online survey. Read the results of the survey here. The commission will review the recommendations at an all-day workshop on Feb. 8 starting at 9 a.m. City staff will present findings based on community feedback and priorities. Voting does not occur at workshops, but consensus direction guiding next steps can be given. The meeting will be livestreamed on Facebook, YouTube and Dunedin TV.
