WESTPORT, CT — A driver was temporarily trapped in their vehicle after a crash Wednesday afternoon on Wilton Road, fire officials said.
In a news release, Assistant Fire Chief Matthew Cohen said the two-car crash occurred around noon at the road's intersection with Partrick Road.
As crews made their way to the area, they were told a person was possibly trapped in one of the vehicles, Cohen said. When emergency responders arrived, they found one driver was unable to exit their vehicle due to damage from the impact of the crash.
Firefighters used hydraulic cutters to remove the driver's side door and free the driver. According to Cohen, an occupant of one of the vehicles was taken to Norwalk Hospital with non-life threatening injuries by Westport Emergency Medical Services.
Wilton Road remained closed until the vehicles could be removed from the roadway, Cohen said. Westport police are investigating the crash.
