UNIONDALE, NY — Nassau County police have arrested a second man in connection with human remains that were found near the Meadowbrook State Parkway last summer.
Police have charged Jose Quintanilla-Cruz, 27, of Hempstead, with second-degree murder.
The skeletal remains of 19-year-old Gerson E. Pineda, of Hemsptead, were found on the western side of the Meadowbrook State Parkway in Uniondale on July 20, 2021.
Quintanilla-Cruz is scheduled to be arraigned later today in First District Court in Hempstead.
In September, police arrested 22-year-old Jeustin David Maldonado, a suspected member of MS-13, in connection with the body. He was also charged with second-degree murder.
Maldonado was also charged with second-degree murder for the death of 19-year-old Osmin Campos-Sandoval, whose body was found in the woods near the Uniondale Water Tower on Oct. 6, 2020. Police say Campos-Sandoval was a victim of MS-13 violence.
