BEVERLY, MA — Be Healthy Beverly is inviting students and residents to take part in an upcoming screening and discussion on the potential perils of social media. Minding Your Mind and Be Healthy Beverly are teaming up for a free, community showing of the IndieFlix documentary "LIKE" on Feb. 8 at 6 p.m. The documentary examines social media and smartphones and how people can retake control of their lives from them. A virtual discussion will follow the screening with mental health clinician Jon Mattleman and a young adult speaker from Minding Your Mind. "It is our goal and hope to help you and your family feel better equipped to use your smartphones, instead of letting them use you," organizers said. Residents can register to receive the link for the screening and discussion here. (Scott Souza is a Patch field editor covering Beverly, Danvers, Marblehead, Peabody, Salem and Swampscott.
