MANASSAS, VA — A 21-year-old man is wanted by police after he was accused of assaulting a family member at a Planet Fitness in Manassas on Tuesday morning, police said. The man, Cameron Michael Payton, will face a malicious wounding charge. The incident was reported at the Planet Fitness on Stream Walk Lane around 7 a.m. on Tuesday morning. The victim, a 46-year-old man, told police he was approached by a family member in the locker room. In the locker room, an argument became physical, according to the police report. During the encounter, the family member struck the victim several times before the victim hit his head on a locker and fell to the floor. The family member continued to strike the victim while he was on the floor, police said. The family member then left the business, and an employee at the gym contacted police. The victim was taken to a hospital, though his injuries were not considered life-threatening. During an investigation, authorities identified the family member as Cameron Michael Payton. They received warrants for his arrest, but officers have been unable to locate him. Payton is described as a 21-year-old Black man with brown hair and brown eyes. He is about 5 feet, 11 inches tall and weighs approximately 180 pounds. He faces one charge of malicious wounding.
