Here are the top stories in Boulder today: Boulder Bookstore raises $87,000 to support Marshall Fire victims. The Boulder Book Store launched the fundraiser in partnership with Impact on Education, a non-profit whose main goal is to support students in Boulder Valley public schools with supplemental funding and resources in order to address critical needs and opportunity gaps. (CU Independent) CU researchers uniquely poised to mitigate future disasters. CU Boulder researchers are applying their expertise to the aftermath of the Marshall Fire, in hopes of preparing the country for the next "climate fire." (CU Today) Boulder receives federal grants for homelessness. The City of Boulder will use the grant money able to improve cross-departmental and multi-jurisdictional initiatives related to the complex issues of homelessness and behavioral health. City Council has created a roadmap for what it hopes to accomplish over the next couple of years, setting an agenda focused on legislative priorities that include: Middle-income housing, homelessness, and non-vehicle transportation. With growing demand for a shrinking water supply, state water officials officially declare most of the Yampa River as over-appropriated. The designation is a formal recognition there's no longer enough water for everyone who wants it. (Patch) From my notebook: Eco-Cycle's Center for Hard-to-Recycle Materials (CHaRM) is waiving facility and recycling fees for those impacted by the Marshall Fire. Visit the CHaRM Monday - Saturday, 9 a.m. - 5 p.m. at 6400 Arapahoe Road, Boulder. Eco-Cycle can take many smoke- and water-damaged materials, including mattresses, electronics, books and textiles. For a full list of materials accepted at the CHaRM. (Eco Cycle)Coalton Trailhead and trails to remain closed through February due to Marshall Mesa fire damage. The Coalton Trailhead and the Meadowlark, Mayhoffer-Singletree, and Coalton trails will remain closed through February due to damage from the Marshall Fire. Staff is assessing trail and infrastructure damage and will make repairs as soon as possible, but storms and snow accumulation expected over the next month may delay reopening.
