BALTIMORE, MD — Former Baltimore Mayor Catherine Pugh has been released from federal prison in Alabama, online federal records show. The 71-year-old has been transferred to a federal residential reentry management (RRM) program in Baltimore. According to the federal court system, the RRM program provides a safe, structured, and supervised environment for residents and offers various programs and services. It also helps residents develop tools they need to better themselves and rebuild their ties to the community. In Feb. 2020, Pugh was sentenced to three years in prison followed by three years of probation after a jury found her guilty on charges of conspiracy to commit wire fraud, conspiracy to defraud the United States and two counts of tax evasion related to her book "Healthy Holly.". In addition to her sentence, a federal judge ordered Pugh to pay $411,948 in restitution and to forfeit $669,688 including property on Ellamont Road in Baltimore and $17,800 from the Committee to Re-elect Catherine Pugh. Pugh is set to finish her sentence on Jan. 13, 2023, according to the Federal Bureau of Prisons.
