The speech can be seen here:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JpXmRiGst4k  Date: Tuesday, March 22, from 7pm to 8:30pm The Holocaust, Remembered, Part Two: A Survivor's Story My Friend Abe, A Holocaust Survivor, as shared by Steve Goldberg. Abe Piasek was born in Poland in 1928. When he was 11, Germany invaded Poland and turned his home town of Bialobrzegi into a ghetto. The Nazis took Abe from his family at age 13. He never saw his mother, father, or little sister again. He was forced to work in three slave labor camps from 1942-1945, and survived a selection at Auschwitz in 1944. When he was liberated from a cattle car in April of 1945, Abe was 16 years old and weighed less than 80 pounds. Join us as Steve shares Abe's story through video clips of Abe speaking, woven together with photos, maps, and historical research to place Abe's story in the context of the Holocaust. Steve's goal is to keep Abe's legacy alive. You can find out more about Abe and Steve by visiting https://myfriendabe.com. Both evenings will be led by Steve Goldberg. Steve has taught high school history for more than two decades and also has a law degree from Georgetown Law School. While teaching, Steve met Holocaust survivor Abe Piasek when he was 90 years old. Days before Abe passed away in January 2020 at the age of 91, he asked Steve to keep telling his story. Steve belongs to The Holocaust Speakers Bureau, part of the Center for Holocaust, Genocide, and Human Rights Education of North Carolina.
