My first-born started reading at 2 years old. He shocked his Grandma by looking up at the door in Denny’s and saying, “E X I T - that spells “exit”!” He had already surprised me as we drove to the store by saying, “N O spells ‘no’, right?” and when I agreed he said, “Then what did that N O ‘no’ sign say?” We had passed a sign saying “No parking”. All the way to the store he pointed out signs with the word “no” and wanted to know what the rest of the sign said. No right turn on red, no entry, no parking . . . he kept me busy trying to find the signs he was talking about while trying to drive! It wasn’t anything special that we did. The approach in this course is scientifically proven, and kids will be capable of generating sounds from words within no time. Another factor that makes this program recommendable, is that it does not encourage memorization. Where most educational systems encourage and stress on memorizing important facts, this program stresses more on understanding facts.
