Description

Press release from the City of Albany: 01/25/2022 3:55 PM Safe Driving and Walking Tips To help ensure Albany residents remain safe, the Albany Police Department would like to share some safety tips for travel, whether by foot or on wheels. Safe Driving Drivers should be extra cautious on the roads. Look carefully for pedestrians and bicyclists. Obey all traffic laws, including speed limits, at all times. Enter and exit driveways and alleys very carefully. Safe Walking Only cross the street at corners or crosswalks. Stand clear of buses, hedges, parked cars, or other obstacles before crossing so drivers can see you. Assume drivers do not see you. While you should do whatever you can to increase your visibility, do not walk into a crosswalk assuming that the oncoming vehicle can see you. It's best to wait to be sure the vehicle stops than to make a wrong assumption. Safe Walking at Night Carry a flashlight when walking. Cross the street at well-lit intersections whenever possible. Make yourself visible to drivers and other pedestrians by wearing bright/light colored clothing and reflective materials.   ALBANY POLICE DEPARTMENT  ·  1000 San Pablo Ave. Albany, CA 94706  ·  1(510) 525-7300   Emergencies: 911  This press release was produced by the City of Albany.
