LAKE GROVE, NY — Game On Retro Arcade has loaded into Smith Haven Mall in Lake Grove. The vintage arcade opened on Saturday.
The arcade opened with nearly 100 games all set to free play. Each machine is restored and original, as they hold the original game boards and CRT monitors. Games include Ms. Pac-Man, Donkey Kong, Tempest, X-Men, The Simpsons, NBA Jam, Berzerk, and more.
The arcade will be in the mall's food court, so gamers are encouraged to grab a bite between games. Customers can pay for an hour to play or the whole day.
"This is something I've dreamed of for many years and have been working on it tirelessly over the past year and a half," Tristan Whitworth, owner of Game On, wrote on Facebook. "I'm a huge believer that Long Island needs more places like this; places to meet friends, socialize, laugh, and pass down these games to the next generation."

All-day play is set to be $20 Monday to Thursday and $25 Friday, Saturday and Sunday, according to Greater Smithtown.
Whitworth said he committed to opening the arcade after his family's Autism social club was closed when the coronavirus pandemic first hit. One night a month, the arcade will be closed for children with autism to meet up again after having to spend two years away from each other because of the pandemic.
