SCARSDALE, NY — The Scarsdale Board of Education accepted the resignation of Superintendent Thomas Hagerman at its meeting Jan. 24. He will leave the district at the end of the 2021-22 school year, returning to Chicago. Hagerman came to Scarsdale in 2014 from the Winnetka School District 36 on Chicago's north shore. SEE: Scarsdale School Trustees Pick New Superintendent In an announcement Wednesday, board officials said the board thanked Dr. Hagerman for his eight years of leadership and dedicated service to its students, faculty, staff, parents, and the broader Scarsdale community and wished him well in his future endeavors. Board members said they are committed to a thoughtful and deliberate process to identify the most appropriate candidate to lead the Scarsdale Public Schools and ensure continuity of excellence. It is one that will take time and careful consideration. The community will be updated as plans are developed, understanding the importance of transparency, clear communication, and community participation.
