Info on getting GB-2/GB-98. help!

I’m looking on any info for getting a GB-2/GB-98 construction license. Navigating it online is confusing and outdated information. Here’s my situation: I’ve been doing all types of construction since I was very young learning and helping family that are all in the trades. I work now as a handyman and I’m very skilled at what I do, I have all the know how and experience but I do not have any of that on paper experience. I didn’t know why the requirements for a license were until I went from excitedly perusing getting it do being deflated about basically I would have to go work for a contractor for around 4 years to get the same experience I have on paper (plus passing the tests. Which I’ve passed every practice test I’ve done) just to be able to qualify to officially test. Building is my passion and I’m wondering if anyone knows any other options to try to pursue? Some say I can do a notarized affidavit of work experience, but others say they’ve never heard of that. Any help would be so helpful! Thank you in advance.
