Description
I hold a Master's Degree in Music Theory, but also have extensive study and knowledge of classical music history and have studied classical composition. I'm looking to get some experience in teaching these subjects by giving private online lessons for $25/lesson. (I'm familiar with Zoom, but would consider other options)
I can cater to your interests, and focus on the subjects that you'd like to know (as long as it's something I know). I can do a brief, one-lesson overview or in-depth, multi-lesson course. Even if you only do one lesson, I can make you a handout for a reference and further study.
Unlike college courses, you don't have to worry about grades and papers and can just learn (although I'm happy to give you exercises if you want them). I can direct you to books and websites that will save you a bundle as opposed to the high-priced texts required by college courses.
Topics I can cover include:
-basic introduction to notes, intervals, chords, scales ("fundamentals")
-musical elements that can add a classical touch to your popular music writing
-harmony and counterpoint
-ear training
-the different classical eras and their musical and cultural differences
-musical forms such as sonata, concerto, and fugue
