Description

I have a bunch of experience working with both original and cover bands and have played in over a dozen groups in the past 15 years. I would strongly prefer to write original music. Happy playing rhythm, lead, or a little of both. I've been studying, practicing, gigging, and teaching for a long time. (38 years old, look 30) Searching for motivated players, hard-working, well-rounded musicians with a good attitude, pro gear, chops, and professionalism. Not interested in playing hard rock, metal, traditional jazz, or country music. No offense to any of those styles, just not my thing right now. Interests include Pop, Alt/indie, funk, blues, jazzy stuff in a rock context - strong vocals, sophistication, tightness, groove, stage presence, TONE. I know it's tough during a pandemic, but why not spend the winter ramping up some plans for the other side of this thing? My goal is to play for a living, which I'm already doing - paired with several compromises (teaching, playing in a variety of groups, and taking on recording sessions among other things). It is possible and takes a lot of communication, commitment, and prioritization to pull it off. I'm self-employed (full-time, for over ten years now) and do have a flexible schedule to make it happen. Although I'm currently playing in four music projects, I'm still looking for the right group of people to make a push toward being full-time. Ideally, this would be one band or collaboration - not a haphazard combination of the multiple projects. My goal is writing, improvising, recording, and at some point touring and trying to go full out. Although I'm easy-going, I do take this craft very seriously. I want to work with others that have the same mindset. Looking for people who communicate in between rehearsals (daily would be excellent) about tasks, goals, and getting exciting about being better, and always striving to take steps in the right direction. I'm not interested in playing covers. I'd rather spend a year writing an album and be kick-ass with those tunes than trying to cram 40-60 cover songs. I just don't get excited about playing other people's material; no offense intended toward those who do. If you're a musician who understands what I'm describing and are committed to doing something special, you are what I'm looking for. The goal of this is to weed out anyone that doesn't have the discipline to put in the time, effort, and care to do something unique. I'm not political, not a junkie, not into music with religious connotations. Very interested in positivity, growth, and communication, along with putting in more work than most people are willing to do. I'd rather chat over the phone for ten minutes than trade a bunch of emails, so please leave your number. Open to joining a pre-existing group, collaborating with a like-minded multi-instrumentalist and vocalist, or possibly open to other opportunities. I have 25 years of experience on guitar, a little bit of vocal ability, learning the keyboard, and am also well versed with Ableton live (mixing, programming, etc). I have looping gear, lighting, and a lot of ambition to do something big.
